

Shacknews has contacted 2K Games for confirmation regarding the availability of a Mafia II demo but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing. Mafia II will be available in a number of different flavors, both at retail and online, when it hits the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on August 24 in North America and August 27 in Europe. The reported MCV advertisement is the first time a date has been attached to the demo. Word of a demo for 2K Czech's gangster game first reared its fedora-wearing head when Take-Two CEO Ben Feder announced, during a conference call in June, a taste of the title would release prior to Mafia II's release. There is no indication whether the date is specific to Europe or if the demo will be made available globally on August 10.


According to Eurogamer, an advertisement in the UK game industry trade-magazine MCV lists the demo will release on August 10 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Grab a nice slack and a hard shoe, ladies and gentlemen, because a demo for 2K's Mafia II is inbound. The demo features the "Buzzsaw" level, allowing players to control Vito in the 1950s as he and his allies hunt the mobster known as "The Fat Man." Confirmation comes in the form of a press release, and on the 2K forum (as spotted by Shack user trineas). 2K Games has confirmed the reported Mafia II demo will release globally on August 10 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
